Outfit: Maxi Dress & Sweater

Maxi dresses are best known for their bohemian easy summer style, but, it turns out, they can be quite chic in the colder months too. I wanted to find a way to restyle some of my maxi dresses for the wintertime, and I found that layering any maxi dress of deeper rich hues with a sweater and a few accessories creates a stylish chic winter look.

I brought this moody floral maxi into winter weather by adding a slouchy black sweater over the top and defining the waist with a belt which helps create a tucked look to crop the sweater's hemline. Black, red and golden hues in the floral print are subdued enough for the season and paired perfectly with black knits and shoes. A pair of black booties and some edgy golden jewelry pulled the look together, balancing the floral print with more modern touches. The heeled booties show just a touch of ankle beneath the swish of skirt for a moderately cold day.
